I had been waiting to get a decent PDA phone that has quad band and good connectivity options like wifi, bluetooth, GPRS. I finally got one last Thursday and love it so far.
The Wizard is manufactured by HTC, a Taiwanese company and runs Windows Mobile 5.0. It is privately labeled by cingular as the cingular 8125. Here’s a good review of the device. I found a lot of good resources and tweaks on the HTC Wizard Web site. I now have the direct push email and calendar sync configured with my personal and corporate accounts. With a little overclocking, I managed to run Skype with the wifi connection. The SIP softphone (SJ phone) has been configured but I still need to try it out.
Here is the list of upgrades I did:
1. The cingular 2.25 ROM upgrade that provides the direct push support.
2. Microsoft Activesync 4.2 configured with mail2web live for direct push email.
3. Smartskey
4. TotalCommander – a better file manager with extras like the registry editor
5. Omapclock 0.2 – to overclock the CPU. I’m running mine at 240
6. Skype for pocket PC.
7. SJ Phone

Hi Varun,
I am looking at overclocking my 8125 also to run skype. right now the voice on skype is pretty useless over my wifi connection. i guess now that you have been using overclocking for over a month how’s your experience been. i am not overly technical but did you run into any other issues after overclocking? your help would be greatly appreciated. you can contact me at www [dot] sanjaykalra [dot] com
